Race Day Format

As the official support series to FIA Formula E, the I-PACE eTROPHY follows the same format as the single-seater Championship.

Track Walk – One of the first activities of each race weekend is the official track walk on a Friday morning. This gives the drivers and the engineers a chance to inspect each circuit to find its unique characteristics and how best they might set up the car.

Shakedown – A shakedown session takes on the Friday morning of each race weekend, and gives the team and the drivers the first opportunity to run the car on track. The I-PACE eTROPHY cars will be the first to try each circuit, and this is an opportunity for the ensure all the parts and systems are installed correctly.

Free Practice – On Friday afternoon our drivers get to put their foot down for the first time and get the car honed to their liking ahead of the Qualifying session. During this session, the driver will feedback their set-up changes to our engineers and work out opportunities for overtaking and how best to set the fastest and most efficient lap time.

Qualifying – Our first Saturday session, Qualifying takes place after the FIA Formula E Free Practice 1 session. Our drivers attack the circuit in the cool morning air, which EVs love. With just 30 minutes to set the fastest and gain a Championship point for Pole Position, this is a fast and frantic session.

The Race – This is what the whole weekend has been building towards. The session – which is broadcast live on Jaguar Racing’s Facebook Page – is the first official race session of each weekend and pits drivers against one another for the first time. Races last 25 minutes + 1 lap.

As ever, we’ll be pushing for 25 points and that top step of the podium!
